Reacting to the SHOT
The Ready Position:
The ideal ready position is feet shoulder length apart, knees bent with your weight positioned over your toes. Right before the ball is hit make your split step.
Read and react:
The key is to step out to the ball with your foot closest to the ball’s direction, it establishes the fastest move laterally. Dip your shoulder and get the racket back in the turn position.
Footwork, movement and preparation:
Make your steps relative to the distance to the ball. As you get close to the ball make your short adjustment steps as the racket is now in the stored phase.
Set up and execute:
Establishing your position,so you’re now prepared to hit your shot.
Recovery:
The landing position and the finish position needs to be a balanced athletic position in order to maintain continuity and fluidity.
